Theatre Practitioner

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of a high standard of holistic, evidence based patient care within the Theatre Department by demonstrating a high level of clinical competence, the ability to manage and practice within a team and to support and supervise the learning of others.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
- Provide peri-operative care appropriate to individual surgical needs of patient.
- Be responsible for ensuring accurate patient documentation is maintained at all times, with due regard for legal aspects, confidentiality and management of information requirements.
- Ensure availability and readiness of all equipment and instrumentation before anaesthesia commences in all cases.
Management
- Provide leadership for the junior members of the team in the absence of a team leader.
- Ensure that all contacts with patients/clients and internal or external customers are handled in a sensitive and competent manner.
Communication
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with the:
- Multi-disciplinary theatre team.
- Patients, relatives, carers and visitors to the theatre department
- External agencies as required.
Requirements
- RN/ODP registered with NMC/HPC
- Educated to diploma level or working towards
- Evidence of CPD
- Minimum 1 years recent theatre experience
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, verbally and in writing
- Ability to organise and co-ordinate
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable Attributes
- Working towards relevant Degree
- Relevant theatre based course - e.g. ENB 183 or 925
- ENB 998 or equivalent educational qualification
- Mentorship experience
