Your First Placement

 

Your first day at any new placement is always a daunting experience. We are dedicated to making things as easy as possible for you. You can be sure that before your first and indeed any placement, you'll be given the following information:

  • Address/directions to the place of work
  • Where to collect any keys, bleepers, induction packs
  • Details of accommodation (where applicable)
  • Details of parking (where appropriate)

On arrival please request a brief induction from the person you will be reporting to, that should include:

  • Orientation - how to find your way around your new work environment
  • Explanation and clarification of times (e.g. when to take your lunch breaks etc)
  • Introduction to new colleagues
  • Health and safety overview
  • Fire policy and procedures
  • Any relevant local policies and procedures

Please make sure you take the following with you:

  • Your confirmation letter
  • Your Medacs Healthcare Timesheet
  • Your Medacs Healthcare ID Badge
  • Your current GMC Certificate
  • Your passport
  • Your vaccination and professional certificates
  • Any appropriate clothing/equipment

On completing your orientation/induction, you may be required by the Trust to complete an, 'Orientation Training Form'. Please fax this back to your Placement Officer.

ID Badge Requirements when on a Placement

All Doctors will be supplied with a Medacs Healthcare ID Badge which must be worn at all times whilst on a placement.

Supplier's Uniform Policy

Presenting a professional image is very important. All Doctors who are supplied with a Trust ID badge or uniform must return them back to the Trust at the end of the placement. Where required by policies, rules, procedures or standards, you shall wear any special protective clothing or footwear provided.
