Eurospital 2015 Kicks Off this Weekend in Jönköping, Sweden

Players warm up ahead of Eurospital 2014

Last year, we were proud to sponsor the England team in the annual Eurospital football tournament. We are again sponsoring the England team this year as they embark on their bid for glory, this weekend 28 – 31 August, in Jönköping, Sweden.

What is Eurospital?

The Eurospital (European Hospital Workers) football tournament was started back in 1993 by Henri Verbrugghe as a means of bringing together European healthcare workers socially and competitively, and providing an opportunity for open communication between similar occupational groups.

Each team is made up of health service workers from a hospital from each participating European country and this year England are again represented by Manchester Royal Infirmary, led by their Captain, Dr Chris Bosshardt.

Fair play

Last year, despite finishing in last place, the team collected the fair play trophy, which is awarded on an annual basis to the team who play their matches in the spirit of Eurospital - fair play, fun, comradeship.

Hopefully this year they can bring home more trophies! Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates on the team’s progress. More information about Eurospital can be found on the tournament website.
