As a consultant, you will be a pillar of knowledge and expertise for your colleagues, and use your experience to help treat children and young people up to the age of 18 with a range of mental health conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, depression and eating disorders.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

As a Consultant Psychiatrist for CAMHS (Learning Disability), with Norfolk and Suffolk NHS you will:

  • Provide treatment for families, children and adolescents, tailored to individual needs in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Assess families, children and adolescents who present with a mental heath issue and have a learning disability aged 5 to 18 years old.
  • Consult and collaborate with other agencies in the assessment and treatment of complex cases.
  • Meet and consult with other members of the team and members of the Children's Health Services, which includes Community Paediatricians.
  • Plan and co-ordinate mental health services for children, adolescents and families where appropriate.
  • Prepare professional assessments and report on those children or young people known to you.
  • Participate in medical audit and evaluation.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within 6 months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Holds and will use valid UK driving license OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.
