Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Consultant in Dermatology to join a large University NHS Trust based in northeast England.
Salary scale: £84,559 to £114,003 per annum depending on experience - 10 PA's
Hours: Full Time, 10 Programmed activities 8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA
Contract type: Substantive or Fixed term for 12 months (Locum Consultant)
The post-holder will be expected to undertake clinical work in conjunction with his/her clinical colleagues and other professional staff in order to maintain and develop the dermatological service.
The main duties will be:-
- The clinical commitment of the post is to provide dermatological services in the main hospital site but also from other sites as part of the hub and spoke model alongside consultant colleagues and supported by our junior staff. The post-holder will be expected to provide a comprehensive clinical service to consultant colleagues in clinical disciplines within the hospitals and to GP's to ensure a quality dermatology service to patients. This includes outpatient consultations, and specialist activities as agreed with other members of the department. Six clinical sessions per week are proposed, including a biopsy list. The consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of the department.
- Teaching duties such as postgraduate medical education and the teaching of trainees
- Administrative duties - the post-holder will have continuing responsibility at all times for care of patients in their charge and for contributing to the smooth functioning of the Department of Dermatology.
- Clinical audit both within the department and within the directorate
On call commitments
The post includes a commitment to being on-call providing emergency appointments and also being responsible for the completion of tele-triage and responding to Advice and Guidance requests with time allocated to the on call clinician for completing these tasks in the job plan. The frequency of on-call rota is 1:5
Removal expenses may be payable in accordance with terms and conditions of service subject to a maximum of £15,000
