Salary scale: £84,559 to £114,003 per annum depending on experience - 10 PA's

Hours: Full Time, 10 Programmed activities 8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA

Contract type: Fixed term for 12 months (Locum Consultant)

This is a fabulous opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic doctor to join the teams to enhance links and share expertise across specialties. The post's emphasis for clinical work will be on Adult Critical Care and either Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine or Anaesthesia. On-call out of hours provision will be provided in Adult Critical Care.

The successful candidate will join the existing team of nine Critical Care Consultants providing medical cover for an eleven bedded Critical Care Unit, who work closely together and act as a very supportive group with a determined ethos. This exciting opportunity also allows for the widening of an interest in one of the specified specialty areas, alongside dedicated teams of consultants who are focused on improving outcomes and patient experience.

The contract will be for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), and it is envisaged that there will be a split on average of clinical duties into 6 PAs in Critical Care and 4 PAs in the joint associated specialty. However, there is some flexibility in this to accommodate specific clinical interests of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practise. The applicant must also be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training in both specialties.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a share of the on-call rota in Critical Care.

The post holder will be expected to undertake an average of 6 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week over an 8-week rota period.

They will contribute to the critical care 'consultant of the week rota' on a 1 in 8 basis, and provide a morning session, as the second critical care consultant, on a 7 in 8 rota basis.
