Medacs Healthcare is looking for a Locum Consultant Geriatrician to join a medium size NHS hospital based in outer London area.

Salary scale: £93,666 to £126,281 per annum depending on experience

Relocation package: up to £8,000

Hours: Full time - 10 Programmed Activities

Type of contact: NHS fixed term contract for 12 months

Agreed on-call rota: 1 in 10 (on-call supplement 3%)

The successful candidate will be supporting inpatient services and frailty virtual ward; but, as the Trust undergo an exciting period of service development, they will be encouraging and willing to support within job planning any subspecialist interests that the successful candidate may have, and are happy to explore any innovative ways of working that might have a positive impact on their staff wellbeing and satisfaction.

The hospital is a district general hospital rated as outstanding by CQC in 2018 and have approximately 350 beds and directly employ some 2,750 staff. The surrounding area is one of the most attractive "green" areas in the outer London region, surrounded by river, three Royal Parks and open countryside.

The main duties will include:

  • To contribute to the delivery of a first-class geriatric service, by providing daily consultant-delivered care to patients.
  • To lead and support the multi-disciplinary team with complex discharge planning
  • To provide educational and clinical supervision for the junior medical team, and for members of the multi-professional, multi-disciplinary, multi-agency teams.
  • To provide (together with the Specialty Trainees) specialist elderly care assessment, advice and support to other inpatient speciality wards, as required.
  • To contribute to outpatient activity.
  • The Geriatrician will also participate in the unselected general medicine on-call weekend rota (currently 1:10). This rota may be subject to change.

The job plan: Direct Clinical Care (including on call) - 8PAs and Supporting Professional Activities - 2PAs

Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration (or eligibility to obtain).
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • CCT in Geriatric Medicine and Acute or General Medicine on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview.
  • Current wide range of geriatric medicine as well as general and acute medicine experience.
