Medacs Healthcare is looking for a Consultant in Anaesthetics and ICM to join a large NHS Teaching Trust based in West Yorkshire.
Salary scale: £84,559 to £114,003 per annum depending on experience - 10 PA's
Hours: Full time, 10 PA's contract
It is a full-time post - fixed term 12 month NHS contract.
Duties of the post:
Anaesthesia
Provision of preoperative assessment, anaesthetic care and immediate postoperative care to patients at Airedale General Hospital requiring diagnosis or treatment of illness in a variety of settings. Including anaesthesia for paediatric patients down to 3 years or below subject to agreement with the paediatric lead.
Management of patients on Labour Ward, Accident and Emergency Department, Operating Theatres, Hospital Wards, Radiology Department, Dales Suite, Pre-assessment Unit, Majax Response, Member of the Trauma Team
Critical Care
Daily review and assessment of all patients on the Critical Care unit as well as support to the outreach team and other acute teams around the hospital. There is currently a separate twice weekly outreach session and formal cross cover of these sessions may form part of the job plan.
On Call duties
On call from home, frequency dependent on rota. On call period starts at 1730 with a handover and finishes at 0800 am with the next day handover. Weekend shifts start as resident for the 8 am handover with predicted work to cover the daily Critical Care duties, followed by an on call period.
Primary responsibility for the Critical Care Unit but supporting delivery of emergency care across with trust working alongside the general anaesthetic Consultant. This will include majax, major haemorrhage and trauma response, supervision of critical care transfers, management of critical care beds and supervision of the resident anaesthetists. At the weekend primary responsibility is to cover Critical Care. A ward round of all Critical Care patients should be completed and documented 7 days a week.

On call frequency 1:10 initially. Category A - 3%
