Medacs Healthcare is looking for a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist to join a large University NHS Trust based in Nottinghamshire.

Salary scale: £84,559 to £114,003 per annum depending on experience - 10 PA's

Hours: Full time, 10 PA's contract

The post will involve malignant, benign and laboratory haematology.

The successful applicant will become part of a friendly and collaborative team of 7 consultant haematologists and oncologists. We have strong links with the University of Nottingham, with two team members having academic appointments. There are currently 3 consultants covering the haematology service with one lead each for leukaemia, haemostasis and red cell disorders.

The post holder will be responsible for the care of children and young people with leukaemia as well as non-malignant haematological disorders. Each of the 3 consultants will be the lead for one of the key components of the paediatric haematology service (leukaemia, haemoglobinopathy and bleeding disorders). Depending on the interests of the appointee there is the option for them to be the lead for either leukaemia or bleeding disorders. The appointee will be the named consultant for an appropriate proportion of patients with leukaemia, bleeding disorders and general haematological disorders. Along with the other paediatric haematologists, the post-holder will provide paediatric haematology advice to other teams within the children's hospital. They will also provide regional paediatric haematology advice to paediatricians as well as advice to local GPs.

The post is full time and has 10 PAs in the job plan, although applications will be considered from applicants wishing to work less than full time. The on call commitment to the Paediatric haemato-oncology service will be 1:6 nights and weekends with prospective cover. The Paediatric Haematologists are responsible for the laboratory support and advice on all paediatric investigations during normal working hours. There is no additional on-call for the laboratory on top of the 1:6 rota.
