Medacs Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine position based in East Midlands.

Salary scale: £88,364 to £119,133 per annum depending on experience - 10 PA's plus relocation package

Hours: Full Time, 10 Programmed Activities

Contract type: Fixed term for 12 months (NHS Locum Consultant) or Permanent

This is an expansion post and offers an opportunity to join a happy and enthusiastic team of dedicated, highly skilled and forward thinking Acute Physicians. The Trust is looking for a colleague interested in Acute Medicine as their primary commitment but will encourage candidates to continue special clinical interests where these fit with the team.

Any consultant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post on a part-time basis.

The on call rota is Category B Low Frequency. Currently a typical 10 PA job plan would consist of approximately six weekends a year, eleven 17-2200shifts, and fifteen 17-19.00 resident/non-resident overnight GIM on-calls.

Clinical duties:

  • A full range of Acute Medicine emergency and elective patients are admitted to the Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the management of those patients admitted under his/her care.
  • Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive elective and emergency Acute Medicine service.
  • Provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave.
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department.

Requirements:

  • Full GMC registration, and Licence to Practise
  • Must have full MRCP (UK)
  • Must have at least one year in Acute medicine in the NHS in a fixed term role (not hourly rate locum)
  • Must have an interest and commitment to Acute Medicine and this is to be evidenced in the CV
  • Must be able to evidence participation in clinical audit
  • Evidence of teaching and supporting junior staff effectively
