Medacs Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Locum Consultant in Geriatrics role based in North East England.

Salary package: £88,364 to £119,133 per annum depending on experience for 10 PA's plus relocation package up to £8,000 which includes 3 months' rent

Hours: Full Time, 10 Programmed Activities

Contract type: Fixed term for 12 months (NHS Locum Consultant) or Permanent

The post-holder will be joining a group of dynamic and friendly Geriatrician Consultants in developing and embedding high quality care for the frail and older patient in a number of different clinical settings.

The Trust is one of the largest integrated organisations in the country, providing hospital and community services to a population of over 650,000.

As the Trust expand key services and frailty pathways to benefit the frail and older patient, they are developing and enhancing our elderly care and frailty strategy to expand subspecialties, including:

Acute Frailty (SDEC), Complex Frailty Units, Frailty Specialist Units, Movement Disorder Services, Ortho-Geri's, Surgical Liaison, Virtual Wards and Outpatient activity.

The basic whole-time contract is for 10 programmed activities; 8.5 DCC (1.5 PAs admin time and educational supervision time included within this) + additional 1.5 SPA.

There will be a discussion with successful candidates regarding the final job plan/on call arrangements, prior to the interview and appointment to ensure the job plan reflects both the individual's and organisation goals.

Additional programmed PAs may be available for additional activities and specialist interests if desired.

The post holder will be committed to the provision of elderly care and acute frailty and will be expected to undertake clinical work in conjunction with their colleagues and other professional staff in order to maintain and develop Elderly Care services, and to develop specialist skills in accordance with the needs of the service with responsibility in conjunction with colleagues for planning future developments of the service.

Requirements:

  • GMC registered with a license to practice.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • To be on the specialist register in Geriatric Medicine on the date of interview (or within 6 months of entry).
  • Must have suitable training and extensive experience in Geriatric Medicine.
