East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Histopathologist on a full time (10 PA) basis. The successful candidate will join a team of 9.35 Consultant Pathologists in a modern Cellular Pathology Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.
ELHT is an ambitious organisation that champions people, encouraging team working and equipping them with new skills to continually improve services for patients. ELHT is a major referral centre for HPB, Head & Neck and Urology Cancer Services and they also receive cancer resections from Colorectal, Breast and Gynae Units. ELHT are a national screening unit for Breast and Bowel cancer screening patients. The Department is recognised for 4 Cellular pathology STs and in addition supported by 2 Senior Clinical Fellows.
Applicants are expected to be experienced in all aspects of histopathology and non-gynae cytology however there are opportunities to develop special interests.
The successful applicant will be expected to work with management and Clinical Colleagues to further develop the histopathology service and achieve the Trust's key objectives.
The Department of Cellular Pathology has a robust system of pro rata workload allocation in accordance with the RCPath 2012 guidance.
The Department of Cellular Pathology is UKAS accredited
Applicants are required to possess the FRCPath (or equivalent qualification).
Applicants are required to possess full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT.
Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
