New GMC Learning Materials Available to Doctors for Revalidation

Following the publication of the GMC’s ‘The Reflective Practitioner Guidance’ in September 2018, learning materials have been published by the GMC to support doctors engaging in revalidation about how to reflect as part of their practice. The learning materials include:

  • Supporting appraisal and supervision – a case study on an appraisee having a reflective discussion with their appraiser about an experience
  • Supporting reflection – good practice examples of how organisations support reflective practice
  • Good practice examples – three scenarios showing good practice in reflecting on an experience
  • Team reflection – information about Schwartz Rounds

The GMC has also announced that further resources will be available shortly, including:

  • A training resource on being a reflective practitioner, for both group and individual learning, including video scenarios
  • A blog on how reflecting can help with personal wellbeing

If you are looking for more information regarding taking time out of training to do locum work, or if you are new to UK practice, visit gmc-uk.org.
