Global Medics is partnering with a vibrant and diverse Local Health District in New South Wales (situated close to Sydney) to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Mental Health Triage and Assessment Centre.

The Mental Health Triage and Assessment Centre is a modern, purpose‑built, 24/7 acute mental health service designed to provide timely, compassionate, and specialised care for individuals experiencing urgent mental health concerns. It offers a dedicated alternative to the Emergency Department for people seeking immediate mental health support.

The key responsibilities for the role:

  • Leads the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist psychiatric services to patients
  • Promotes patient safety and quality of care. Provides leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers
  • Works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the LHD

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Coming from the UK: Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
  • Other Countries - Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team
