Since its introduction in 2012, we have been proud to support thousands of locum doctors through the revalidation process. If you choose work with Medacs Healthcare, and do most of your work through us, we become your designated body. This means you will have access to our dedicated Revalidation Team, experienced professionals who are here to guide you every step of the way.

What is Revalidation?

Revalidation is the process by which licensed doctors demonstrate to the General Medical Council (GMC) that they are up to date and fit to practice. It is a legal requirement for all doctors working in the UK, including locums, and typically follows a five-year cycle.

To revalidate, you will need to:

Engage in annual whole-practice appraisals

Collect and reflect on supporting information such as CPD, feedback, and quality improvement activities

Maintain an up-to-date GMC Online account

Confirm your designated body and responsible officer

Ensure your responsible officer can make a recommendation to the GMC

If you don’t have a designated body, the GMC provides alternative routes for revalidation, including working with a suitable person or completing a revalidation.
