- Supporting and encouraging people to manage their own domestic responsibilities
- Assisting with personal care
- Ensuring patients are eating and drinking well
- Maintaining accurate records and reports
- Supporting people to access community facilities
- Assisting with financial responsibilities
- Meeting social, emotional and intellectual needs
- Providing support to take and monitor medications
- Communicating with relatives, friends and other health professionals
- Helping with everyday tasks such as paying bills and attending appointments

Previous experience is not always necessary as training is often provided. The qualities needed to be a Community Support Worker include honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, flexibility, commitment and good communication skills. It’s also useful if you hold a driving licence.

- At least three months’ experience of caring professionally, or for a loved one, in the UK

- A valid Moving and Handling certificate
