Consultant Gastroenterologist
Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum (pro rata where applicable)
Role Overview: Medacs is recruiting for a Consultant Gastroenterologist. This role involves providing a 7-day Consultant-led gastroenterology inpatient service, supporting the GI Bleed rota, and contributing to the development of specialist services. The successful candidate will also perform outpatient clinics and endoscopy sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a 7-day Consultant-led gastroenterology inpatient service.
- Support the GI Bleed rota.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services.
- Develop and contribute to specialist services.
- Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for gastroenterological illnesses.
- Perform two outpatient clinics per week and two general endoscopy lists.
- Participate in audit programs to measure success and develop services.
Commitments:
- Comply with GMC guidance, clinical risk management processes, and infection control policies.
- Audit clinical outcomes, report clinical incidents, and alert to risks.
- Participate in annual appraisal and foster good team relationships.
- Communicate effectively with all medical and service departments.
- Undertake non-emergency work during premium time as required.
- Respond to patient complaints in line with the complaints policy.
- Support financial sustainability by collaborating on budget issues.
- Provide eight weeks' notice of annual and study leave.
Teaching:
- Participate in teaching and supervising junior staff.
- Recruit junior staff and supervise their education, including educational contracts, regular appraisal, study leave, annual leave, and rotas.
- Enrol on an approved educational supervisor accreditation course if newly appointed.
Research:
- Take on the role of Principal Investigator with full training and support.

Person Specification:
Essential:
- Full GMC Registration.
- CCST Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date.
- MRCP (UK).
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in Gastroenterology (MRCP Gastro, MD, PhD, or equivalent).
Skills and Experience:
- Experienced in all aspects of Gastroenterology.
Clinical Governance:
- Evidence of experience in Clinical Governance.
- Experience of Audit.

- Adhere to GMC code of conduct.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel across sites if required.
