Consultant Psychiatrist - Adult MH Inpatient Unit, Sydney

Global Medics is partnering with the Northern Sydney Local Health District to recruit a Staff Specialist/Consultant Psychiatrist - Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit, including Paediatric Emergency Care Centre.

Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), is a short term inpatient admission unit (24-48 hours) for consumers presenting to ED in crisis.

The role is based just 20 minutes north of Sydney, with great connections to the CBD and stunning Sydney beaches including Bondi and Manly beach.

Key Responsibilities for the role:

• Provide a speciality service consistent within your defined scope of clinical practice.
• Participate in an on-call roster determined by the Head of Department.
• Liaise with other health professionals involved in patient management and care.
• Comply with Hospital / Local Health District (LHD) / Ministry of Health policies and procedures regarding the prescription of medications and ordering of tests.
• Provide clinical management and timely treatment of inpatients under your care both as an inpatient and where applicable in the community under the LHD ambulatory care model.

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Coming from the UK - Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
• Other Countries - Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
• Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health
• Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team
