🔍 Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist - Paediatrics & Strabismus (Scotland)

📍 Location: East of Scotland
📅 Duration: 12‑month locum
💷 Rate: £90-£110 per hour
🕒 On‑call: 1 in 9

We're seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with specialist expertise in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery to join a high‑performing eye department in the East of Scotland.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a well‑structured locum post with a supportive team, modern facilities, and a balanced weekly rota.

✅ Key Responsibilities
Deliver high‑quality paediatric ophthalmology clinics and surgical sessions
Perform paediatric strabismus surgery independently
Provide ROP screening (preferred but not essential)
Support ARC emergency clinics as required
Contribute to departmental governance, admin, and SPA time
Participate in a 1:9 on‑call rota

✅ Essential Requirements
Proven experience in paediatric specialist ophthalmology
Competence in paediatric strabismus surgery
NHS experience strongly preferred
Ability to work autonomously within a busy clinical environment

Essential:
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
* A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
* UK Right to Work
* Strong communication and teamworking skills
