Global Medics is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist for a permanent position at a large public hospital based in Sydney area.

The hospital is a major teaching hospital located in the heart of Western Sydney, and serves a highly diverse, multicultural population with a broad and complex clinical caseload, offering Anaesthetists a rewarding and varied scope of practice.

The hospital provides a wide range of acute, elective and emergency services, including general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, ENT, plastics, dental/maxillofacial surgery and emergency surgery. It has a busy Emergency Department, a high‑volume operating theatre suite, and a strong focus on peri‑operative medicine and patient safety.

Anaesthetic services are delivered by a collegial, supportive and well‑established department, working closely with surgical, critical care and peri‑operative teams. The department is actively involved in service development, quality improvement initiatives and education, making it an excellent environment for both experienced specialists and those with leadership, teaching or subspecialty interests.

Requirements:

  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia or equivalent.
  • Sound clinical knowledge in Anaesthesia demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position
  • Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Officer
  • Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department
  • Commitment to teaching for the Part 1 ANZCA examination.
  • Commitment to administrative duties within the Department
