About the Role

As a locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you'll provide expert care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical leadership in both obstetrics and gynaecology services.
• Lead ward rounds on antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology wards.
• Manage labour ward activity, including high‑risk cases and emergency situations.
• Perform obstetric and gynaecological procedures (e.g., caesarean sections, instrumental deliveries, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic procedures depending on local requirements).
• Run consultant‑led antenatal, gynaecology and rapid‑access clinics.
• Participate in on‑call rota, providing emergency obstetric and gynaecology cover.
• Support and supervise junior doctors, midwives, and allied health professionals.
• Contribute to MDT meetings, case discussions and risk management activities.
• Ensure high-quality, evidence‑based patient care and maintain accurate documentation.
• Participate in governance activities such as audits, incident reviews, and clinical teaching.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
• UK Right to Work
• Strong communication and teamworking skills

Desirable:

• CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or within 6 months of achieving it)
