Job Summary

Medacs Healthcare is looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our team at Chelmsford prison. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality nursing care in a secure environment, supporting patients with both primary and acute healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care
• Conduct clinical assessments, administer treatments, and manage discharges or referrals
• Support first reception screenings and emergency responses
• Lead and participate in primary care clinics (e.g. wound care)
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audits
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support junior staff

Requirements

Essential:

• NMC-registered RGN
• Prison clearance
• At least six months' recent UK-based experience
• Clinical examination and venepuncture skills
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

• A&E or assessment unit experience
• Previous experience in prison healthcare
• Strong communication and autonomous decision-making skills
