About the Role

As a locum Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you'll provide expert care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of older adults with complex medical, cognitive, and functional needs.
• Lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and social care colleagues.
• Deliver high‑quality inpatient and outpatient geriatric care, including frailty assessment, falls management, dementia care, and rehabilitation planning.
• Participate in acute care of older people (frailty units, front‑door frailty services, acute wards, etc.).
• Develop individualised care plans focused on optimising independence, quality of life, and safe discharge.
• Provide clinical leadership and support service development to improve pathways for older patients.
• Supervise, teach, and mentor junior medical staff, trainees, and other healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to governance activities including audits, quality improvement projects, and clinical risk management.
• Participate in the consultant on‑call rota as required.
• Engage in research and evidence‑based practice to support continual improvement of geriatric services.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• CCT in Geriatric Medicine
• A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
• UK Right to Work
• Strong communication and teamworking skills
