About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's major cancer centres, serving a population of 1.8 million across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Based at the renowned Rosemere Cancer Centre, this role offers broad exposure to advanced radiotherapy, SACT, innovative research, and service development-ideal for consultants seeking a dynamic and academically engaged environment.
You will join a large, friendly, and forward‑thinking Oncology directorate delivering high‑quality care across Gynaecological and Upper GI cancers, supported by specialist ACP teams, an outstanding radiotherapy service, and extensive research infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialist oncology care across Gynae and Upper GI cancer pathways.
- Participate in MDTs and collaborate with surgeons, physicians, radiographers, ACP teams, and nursing colleagues across the region.
- Provide radiotherapy planning, peer review, SACT prescribing, and treatment oversight.
- Support and supervise junior doctors, specialist registrars, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, audit and quality initiatives.
- Participate in teaching, examinations, postgraduate education, and research activity.
- Take part in the second‑on on‑call rota (approximately up to 4 weeks annually).
- Cross‑cover consultant colleagues as required.

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Eligibility for CCT in Clinical Oncology (or within 12 months)
- Experience in radiotherapy and SACT
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Valid DBS/PVG or willingness to obtain one
- UK Right to Work
Desirable
- Higher research/educational degree
- Experience in stereotactic radiotherapy
- Educational Supervisor training
- CCT in Oncology (or within 6 months of achieving it)
