This is an excellent opportunity to combine rewarding clinical work, specialist development, and flexible working, with the support of a leading NHS framework agency.

About the Role

As Consultant Haematologist, you will join an established team at QEH King's Lynn, working alongside experienced consultant colleagues and specialist nurses to deliver a comprehensive clinical and laboratory haematology service.
The role offers the opportunity to develop a sub-specialist interest, with one session per week at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke's Hospital), contributing to tertiary-level care and MDTs.

The department forms part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance, a UKAS-accredited service, and works closely with regional MDTs for malignant and non-malignant haematology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-level care for inpatients, outpatients, and day-unit patients
  • Lead and participate in haematology clinics, including Macmillan clinics and telephone follow-ups
  • Contribute to the on-call rota (currently 1:4 weekdays/weekends)
  • Participate in local and regional MDTs, including video-linked specialist MDTs
  • Support and supervise junior doctors, trainees, and multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, service improvement, and GIRFT initiatives
  • Support education, appraisal, and CPD activities within the department

About the Department & Setting

  • Dedicated Macmillan Unit with access to Level 2b inpatient beds
  • Strong links with Cambridge University Hospitals, including CAR‑T pathways
  • Supportive consultant team with defined subspecialty interests

  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills

Desirable

  • CCT in Haematology (or within 6 months)
  • Interest in developing a recognised subspecialty area
  • Experience contributing to teaching, audit, or service development
