Medacs Healthcare is working in partnership with Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) to recruit a Consultant Histopathologist to join one of the largest, most diverse, and forward‑thinking pathology departments in the East of England.

About the Role

As a Consultant Histopathologist, you will join a highly experienced team of consultants working within an oligo‑specialist model, with opportunities to develop expertise in 2-3 subspecialties.

You will work in a modern, purpose‑built Cellular Pathology building equipped with digital pathology, voice recognition, advanced laboratory systems, and strong academic links with the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the Norwich Research Park.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant‑level reporting across agreed subspecialty areas

  • Participate in MDTs
  • Contribute to the department's digital pathology and innovation programmes
  • Support the delivery of high‑quality diagnostic services across NNUH, JPUH, QEH, and regional GP practices
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and risk management

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • FRCPath in Histopathology (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR)
  • Broad training and experience in diagnostic histopathology
  • Ability to develop subspecialty interests aligned to departmental needs
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
  • Right to work in the UK
  • DBS/PVG check (or willingness to complete)

Desirable:

  • Experience in paediatric/perinatal pathology, dermatopathology, GI, or cytology

  • Experience in research, teaching, or digital pathology
  • Interest in service development or leadership roles
