Job Title: Biomedical Scientist - Pathology

Location: Singleton Hospital or Morriston Hospital, Swansea

Band: Band 6

Contract Type: Locum

Salary: £24 - £27 per hour

About you:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Histopathology service within Swansea Bay University Health Board. You will be a motivated and competent HCPC‑registered BMS with proven experience across core histopathology techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specimen dissection.

  • Undertake microtomy, embedding, and routine histological preparation.
  • Carry out quality control procedures and maintain high laboratory standards.
  • Perform immunohistochemistry using automated platforms.
  • Undertake special stains (manual and automated).

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.

  • IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK right to work.
