Location: Bristol

Salary: £40,000 - £42,000

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, occasional Saturdays

Job Summary

Medacs Healthcare is working in partnership with The Mole Clinic to recruit a Screening Nurse to join their team in Nottingham, supporting the early detection of skin cancer through comprehensive skin assessments using dermoscopy.

In this role, you will carry out full-body and targeted mole checks, identify suspicious and atypical lesions, and ensure patients are referred for further investigation or treatment where needed.

Working closely with dermatologists and the wider clinical team, you will play a key role in delivering safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care.

About You

You are a Registered Nurse with an active NMC registration and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

You will bring:

  • Excellent attention to detail when conducting clinical assessments
  • Confidence working independently in a clinical setting
  • Strong communication skills to support patients through screening and follow-up
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing workload

You are committed to continuous learning and developing your expertise in skin cancer detection and dermoscopy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full-body skin checks, single mole assessments and mole mapping using dermoscopy
  • Identify suspicious and atypical lesions in line with NICE guidelines and clinic protocols
  • Accurately document findings within the electronic patient record system
  • Capture and assess high-quality clinical images for diagnosis and review
  • Assess patient risk factors, including medical history, lifestyle and melanoma risk
  • Educate patients on sun protection, skin health and early detection
  • Arrange referrals and follow-up care for patients requiring further investigation
  • Use clinical assessment tools such as the Right Arm Test where appropriate
  • Maintain high standards of documentation, accuracy and compliance
  • Participate in quality assurance, audits and multidisciplinary working
  • Conduct clinic checks and report equipment or safety concerns

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Current NMC registration
  • Experience in clinical assessment and patient care
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in dermatology, dermoscopy or skin cancer screening
  • Knowledge of NICE skin cancer guidelines
  • Experience using electronic patient record systems
  • Interest in preventative healthcare
