An OEUK medical (formerly OGUK) is a mandatory health assessment that confirms medical fitness to work safely in the demanding and high-risk conditions of the offshore oil and gas sector, where access to urgent medical care is often limited. 

Our offshore medical evaluations follow strict standards set by Offshore Energies UK (formerly Oil & Gas UK).

What’s Involved in a OEUK Medical? 

OEUK medicals include a health questionnaire and a series of in-clinic checks covering heart and lung function, hearing, vision, musculoskeletal fitness, and any conditions that could affect offshore safety.

Needs-Based Certification 

OEUK medicals may also include mental health and wellbeing assessments to ensure psychological resilience in isolated, high-risk conditions, or drug and alcohol testing, depending on employer requirements.

An OEUK certificate of fitness is usually valid for two years, although the clinician can issue a shorter duration, depending on age or medical history.

Protecting Turbine Workers

A wind turbine medical evaluates an individual’s ability to perform turbine‑related tasks safely and reliably, without endangering others. 

Turbine workers are specifically assessed for ladder climbing, working at height, and ability to work in extreme temperatures and remote environments.

To ensure compliance, our assessment criteria is aligned with RenewableUK guidelines which cover mobility, balance, coordination and manual handling.
