As a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) within the NHS, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and person-centered care to individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care packages that promote recovery, resilience, and independence. You will ensure a safe, therapeutic environment that respects patients' rights, dignity, and diverse needs while adhering to the NMC Code of Conduct and NHS Trust policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care Delivery: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, manage complex risks, and formulate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, carers, and the MDT.

  • Medication Management: Safely administer, monitor, and review psychiatric medications in line with NMC guidelines and local trust policies, observing for side effects and efficacy.

  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide compassionate psychological support, de-escalation, and crisis intervention, utilizing evidence-based frameworks to assist patients in distress.

  • Advocacy & Safeguarding: Act as a strong advocate for patients, ensuring strict adherence to the Mental Health Act (1983/2007) and Mental Capacity Act (2005). Robustly identify and escalate safeguarding concerns for vulnerable adults and children.

  • Team Collaboration: Liaise effectively with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, social workers, and community teams to facilitate seamless admission, transfer, and discharge planning.

  • Leadership & Mentorship: (Particularly for Band 6) Supervise and mentor student nurses, healthcare assistants (HCAs), and junior staff, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence.
