NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking an ambitious Consultant in Infectious Diseases to join a growing multidisciplinary team and play a key role in developing an integrated laboratory-to-bedside Infectious Diseases service. This is a newly created permanent post created as part of an exciting expansion of the service.

Working alongside Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, BBV, OPAT and Acute Medicine colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to develop a role that reflects your interests and expertise while helping shape the future direction of care across the region.

The Role

The service provides care across a broad and rewarding spectrum of Infectious Diseases, including:

  • HIV and Blood Borne Virus services
  • Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C management
  • Tuberculosis services
  • Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT)
  • General Infectious Diseases clinics
  • Community and prison outreach services
  • Inpatient Infectious Diseases and General Medicine support

Successful candidates can choose to participate in the Microbiology on-call rota, Acute Medicine on-call rota, or both, depending on individual interests and experience.

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements include:

  • Primary Medical Qualification
  • Full GMC Registration with Specialist Registration (or within six months of obtaining CCT)
  • Appropriate Royal College Membership
  • Demonstrable experience within Infectious Diseases
  • Commitment to teaching, clinical governance, service development and quality improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
