Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases to join the Eastern Pathology Alliance, supporting microbiology, virology, infectious diseases and infection prevention services across Norfolk's acute hospitals.

Working alongside a highly experienced team of Microbiology and Virology Consultants, you'll help deliver a comprehensive infection service while contributing to service development, teaching, research and innovation.

The Role

This Consultant post combines clinical microbiology, infectious diseases expertise, infection prevention and control, and regional advisory responsibilities. You'll work closely with hospital clinicians, primary care colleagues and multidisciplinary teams whilst supporting a service that spans Norfolk and the wider Eastern Pathology Alliance network.

You'll also play an important role in:

  • Clinical consultation and specialist infection advice.
  • Teaching and supervision of doctors in training, clinical scientists and laboratory staff.
  • Clinical governance, audit and quality improvement programmes.
  • Research and innovation within one of the UK's most exciting academic and scientific environments.

What We're Looking For

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT, CESR or equivalent route.
  • FRCPath in Medical Microbiology or dual accreditation in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, or equivalent.
  • Experience in clinical microbiology, infectious diseases and infection prevention & control.
  • A passion for service development, teaching and cooperative working.
