Medacs Healthcare is delighted to be supporting NHS Dumfries & Galloway with the recruitment of a Consultant Orthodontist to join their established multidisciplinary team based at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. About the Role

As a Consultant Orthodontist, you will provide a diagnostic and advisory service for patients referred to the Area Orthodontic Department. The post has a particular focus on the interdisciplinary management of dentofacial, craniofacial and hypodontia patients and includes participation in multidisciplinary orthognathic and craniofacial clinics

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver consultant-led orthodontic care for complex specialist cases
  • Manage orthognathic, craniofacial and hypodontia treatment pathways
  • Work collaboratively with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery colleagues in joint clinics
  • Supervise and support training grade staff
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit and service development activities
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching opportunities

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • BDS or equivalent qualification
  • Full Specialist GDC/GMC registration
  • MOrth RCS or equivalent
  • ISFE/FDSRCS in Orthodontics (or within six months of attainment) or an established Consultant Orthodontist
  • Experience managing complex orthodontic cases
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamworking skills

Desirable:

  • Additional orthodontic academic qualifications
  • Research, publication or audit experience
  • Teaching and training experience
