Job role: Healthcare Support Workers - HCA - Phlebotomists

Location: Scotland region

We are seeking motivated and compassionate Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs) with phlebotomy experience to join our team.

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting clinical assessments, ensuring a positive participant experience, and maintaining high standards of care, quality and safety. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help facilitate the smooth operation of mobile clinics and support participants throughout their research journey.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about patient care, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, and are committed to supporting innovative healthcare and research programmes that aim to improve the health of future generations.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for re-confirming participant details before commencement of appointment
  • Responsible for completing; height, weight and waist measurements captured; taking heart rate and blood pressure checks and inputting result data on the system
  • Responsible for drawing the two blood samples, labelling, and storing correctly
  • Checking the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating as required
  • Responsible for preparing boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier
  • Minimum of one year's active experience drawing blood (as validated through competency checklist and references during recruitment process)
  • HCAs/Phlebotomists competent in Phlebotomy (must have certificate or competency sign off), 12months experience or more is required for the following locum contract

Essential:

  • Be aged 25 or over.
  • Hold a full manual driving licence with a clean driving record.
  • 12 month phlebotomy experience
  • The ability to pass an enhanced background check - PVG
