Job Summary

We're recruiting an experienced Consultant Neurologist to deliver consultant‑led neurology care within NHS services. This locum role focuses primarily on outpatient activity, supporting the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with a broad range of neurological conditions.

You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with nursing staff, allied health professionals and medical colleagues to deliver safe, effective and patient‑centred care. The role suits consultants who are confident working autonomously within NHS systems and pathways, and who value structured clinical practice.

About You

You're a GMC‑registered Consultant Neurologist with strong experience delivering neurology care at consultant level within the NHS. You work confidently in outpatient settings, communicate clearly and value multidisciplinary collaboration.

You bring a calm, professional approach to clinical practice and are committed to maintaining high standards of patient safety, clinical quality and governance within neurology services.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant‑led neurology outpatient clinics and related clinical activity
• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of neurological conditions
• Manage clinical workloads effectively, including follow‑up and associated administration
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support patient‑centred care pathways
• Participate in MDT meetings, clinical governance, audit and service development activity
• Support safe and effective service delivery in line with NHS clinical standards

Essential Skills & Experience

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Minimum six months recent NHS experience
• Consultant‑level neurology experience within the NHS
• Strong experience delivering outpatient neurology care
• Evidence of ongoing professional development
• Clear and effective communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Compassionate, patient‑centred approach to clinical care

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Previous locum consultant experience
• Experience across different NHS neurology service models
• Involvement in service development, clinical education or quality improvement activity
• Subspecialty interest within neurology
