At Medacs Healthcare, our training programme is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to step into your new role, with structured support throughout your journey.
You’ll be joining a team that helps people with long-term health conditions or disabilities access the support they may be entitled to through thePersonal Independence Payment (PIP) process.
Our Clinical Assessor training programme is structured, practical and designed to support you as you move into your new role.
During your training, you’ll build your understanding of:
By the end of the training process, you’ll be ready to assess individuals with a range of long-term health conditions and understand how these affect daily functioning.
There are five stages in the training and approval process. Each stage builds your knowledge, develops your practical skills and supports your progression.
Your initial training lasts six weeks and takes place on Microsoft Teams, delivered by our experienced training team.
Using DWP-approved materials, you’ll learn about the policy behind the PIP benefit, alongside the practical skills needed to carry out assessments in a Clinical Assessor role.
Towards the end of the six weeks, you’ll complete:
You’ll move to the next stage once these are successfully completed.
You’ll work with an experienced Clinical Coach to build your skills on live cases.
This stage lasts for up to two weeks and includes observation before, during and after assessments, with regular feedback.
You’ll be supported to develop:
Depending on your contract, this may include face-to-face and telephone assessments.
After supervision, you’ll begin carrying out assessments more independently.
You’ll move onto 100% audit, meaning every case is reviewed and feedback is provided. This continues until full approval is confirmed by the DWP.
You’ll work towards the required standards before progressing to the final stage.
At the final stage, your key competencies will be assessed.
You’ll complete three observed assessments to confirm you are working to the required standard as a PIP Functional Assessor.
You’ll be supported throughout the process.
During stages 4 and 5, you’ll work with a dedicated Clinical Support Manager (CSM), with regular check-ins covering:
