Consultant Haematologist - NHS Dumfries & Galloway

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist to join the well-established Clinical Haematology team at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. This substantive post offers the chance to work within a modern, forward-thinking service delivering high-quality care across both malignant and non-malignant haematology.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide consultant-led care for patients with haematological disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes clinical responsibility for laboratory haematology and blood transfusion services, participation in MDT meetings and collaboration with specialist centres across the West of Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions.
  • Clinical input into laboratory haematology and blood transfusion services.
  • Participation in a 1 in 3 on-call rota with prospective cover.
  • Teaching, supervision and development of medical students and junior colleagues.
  • Contribution to audit, governance, research and service development initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • CCT or CCST in Haematology, or within six months of completion.
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
  • Broad experience across clinical haematology and blood transfusion.
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and cooperative working.
