In recent years, recognition and understanding of neurodivergence has grown.
Providing the right support for neurodivergent employees is now an important people priority, and a statutory obligation. Expert guidance helps ensure approaches are practical, proportionate and genuinely supportive.
Our neurodiversity assessments help managers and HR teams to build more inclusive and supportive working environments, improving the wellbeing and retention of neurodivergent employees and providing practical support when concerns arise.
With their strengths and needs understood, employees feel less stressed and able to perform at their best, benefitting from new adjustments to their working environment (e.g. sensory comfort) and personalised strategies to improve aspects like focus, organisation and communication.
A neurodiversity workplace needs assessment can be conducted in person or online. It typically includes some confidential discussion and some involvement with HR or a line manager to gather all the necessary detail.
Our specialist clinicians will work closely with both the employee and their manager to explore the demands of their role and identify any barriers affecting performance or wellbeing.
A report is then prepared with a clear set of recommendations for reasonable practical adjustments and structured support to improve their experiences at work.
Recommendations can be made available to employees and managers.
As awareness of neurodivergence increases, UK employment law continues to evolve.
Our teams have the expertise to help employers to approach these situations with clarity and confidence, responding fairly and appropriately, while ensuring managers are equipped with clear, practical guidance to mitigate risk.
Updated ACAS guidance reinforces employers’ duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments, manage performance and absence fairly, and take proactive steps to avoid discrimination - even where a formal diagnosis is not in place.
We combine our occupational health expertise with specialist insight from experienced neurodevelopmental clinicians via our sister brand Nurovia.
This ensures our recommendations are clinically grounded and informed by a strong understanding of operational workplace demands.
Where appropriate, formal assessments for ADHD or Autism can also be arranged using recognised diagnostic tools, in accordance with NICE guidelines.
The assessment itself will take up to 90 minutes with different types of follow up support depending on the scenario. Reports are typically ready within 10 working days.
Recommendations depend on the individual, but can include the use of flexible working and different communication styles to support focus and productivity, employing assistive technology to support organisation or accessibility, workspace adjustments to improve sensory comfort.
No. Employers have a statutory duty to act - even where a formal diagnosis is not in place.
